Time in force and post-only

最后更新 2026年8月14日

How long an order stays alive, and how to guarantee you pay the maker fee.

Time in force decides what happens to the part of a limit order that cannot fill immediately.

  • Good till cancelled rests on the book until it is filled or you cancel it.
  • Good till date rests until it is filled, you cancel it, or the expiry you set is reached.
  • Immediate or cancel fills whatever it can against the book right now; any unfilled remainder is cancelled.
  • Fill or kill fills completely and immediately, or is cancelled entirely.

Post-only

Post-only places the order only if it can rest on the book. If it would fill immediately — which would make you the taker — it is rejected instead. Use it when you want the maker fee and would rather not trade at all than pay the taker fee.
