Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication adds a code from an authenticator app to your password. With it on, you are asked for a code every time you sign in.

Turning it on

1. Open Settings under Security and start two-factor setup. Enter your password to begin.
2. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app, or enter the setup key manually.
3. Save your backup codes. Each one works once, and they are the only way in if you lose the authenticator. They are not shown again.
4. Enter a six-digit code from the app to confirm.

Save the backup codes somewhere you will still have access to if you lose your phone. They are shown once.

If you enter the wrong code too often

Repeated incorrect codes temporarily lock the account and you will need to sign in again later. This protects the account from someone guessing codes; it is not a permanent lock.

Turning it off

You can turn two-factor authentication off, and your account is then protected by your password alone. Any withdrawal address you add in the following 12 hours is restricted — a delay that exists so switching the second factor off is not itself a route to moving funds.
