Tether Gold is a token whose issuer, TG Commodities Limited, part of the Tether group, states that each unit represents ownership of one troy ounce of physical gold held in Switzerland.
Because the token is denominated in gold rather than in a currency or another cryptocurrency, its price tracks the price of gold. That makes it behave differently from a cryptocurrency: it moves with the metals market and with the dollar, not with the crypto market. A troy ounce is about 31.1 grams and is the standard unit precious metals are priced in, so one XAUT is quoted at roughly the price of an ounce of gold.
Tether states that holders meeting its requirements may redeem tokens for physical gold, subject to its own terms, minimums and jurisdiction limits. Those conditions are the issuer's and are published by the issuer. Redemption is the link between the token and the metal, so what the issuer says about the gold — that it exists, where it is held, and who may claim it — is the claim the token rests on, and it is a claim made by the issuer rather than one verified on a blockchain.
XAUT is issued as a token on more than one blockchain, so the network used for a transfer matters in the same way it does for any multi-chain token: the balance exists as a separate contract on each network, and a transfer arrives only on the network it was sent over. Custody of the underlying metal sits with the issuer regardless of which network a token is held on, and moving the token between networks moves no gold.
A gold-backed token is not the same instrument as metal held in a vault in the holder's own name, and it is not a regulated commodity contract. What a holder owns is a token on a blockchain plus whatever claim the issuer's terms create; the metal itself is held by the issuer or the custodian it appoints. Reports about the holdings are published by the issuer, so anything stated about quantity, storage or auditing traces back to the issuer and the auditors it appoints.
EBCMX credits a XAUT deposit after it reaches the confirmation count below on the network you send from. Sending on a network that is not listed here will not credit.
| Network | Confirmations | Minimum deposit | Minimum withdrawal (before fee) | Withdrawal fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ethereum | 60 | 0.001 | — | — |
XAUT withdrawals are not enabled yet, so no withdrawal minimum or fee is published for it. Deposits credit on the networks listed above.

The price shown is the lowest resting sell order on our own order book, checked against a multi-venue index reference. If the book's best ask drifts more than 200 basis points from that reference, the index price is shown instead — so one off-market order can never set the published price.
Every open XAUT market is listed above with its live price and 24-hour volume. Each one links straight to its order book.
Use any network in the deposit table above. Each row shows the confirmations we wait for and the minimum that credits. A deposit sent on an unlisted network will not credit.
Not exactly. The index reference is the median across major venues, but the price you trade at is our own order book, so it moves with the liquidity resting here.
The XAUT price moves with supply and demand across the venues where it trades, with the liquidity resting in those order books, and with wider market conditions and news. EBCMX publishes what its own book and the index reference show, and does not forecast where the price goes next.
Spot trading is maker-taker. Your rate resolves from whichever of your 30-day trading volume or your assets on platform gives you the better tier, and the published schedule is the one settlement charges by. The entry rates for each XAUT market are listed above.
Create an EBCMX account, complete identity verification, then deposit on one of the networks listed above. Once the deposit credits, place an order on a XAUT market and it executes against the live order book.
Not yet. XAUT withdrawals are not enabled on EBCMX at the moment, so no withdrawal fee or minimum is published for it. When they open, each network's fee and minimum appear in the table above, and both are shown to you before you confirm a withdrawal.
Market and limit orders, with time-in-force GTC, IOC, FOK or GTD, and a post-only flag on limit orders. Stop and take-profit triggers are available on XAUT markets, as are OCO and OTO order groups.
Yes. Each XAUT market publishes its own minimum order size along with its price and quantity precision. Those limits are enforced when the order is placed, so an order below the minimum is rejected rather than accepted.
A XAUT deposit credits once it reaches the required number of network confirmations. That count differs per network and is listed in the deposit table above, so how long it takes depends on the network you send from.
Yes. An account must complete identity verification before it can trade XAUT or withdraw it. Documents are reviewed by our team, not by an automated system.
