XRP is the native asset of the XRP Ledger, a blockchain that began operating in 2012 and was built for payments and settlement rather than for general-purpose computation.
The XRP Ledger uses neither proof of work nor proof of stake. It reaches agreement through a consensus protocol in which each participant follows a list of validators it has chosen to trust, and a transaction is final once enough of those validators agree on the ledger version containing it. Transactions settle in seconds and fees are very small. There is no mining, so producing a new ledger version creates no new XRP for whoever produced it.
The full supply of XRP was created when the ledger started rather than issued over time. A small amount is destroyed with every transaction as an anti-spam measure, so the total in existence falls slowly and the protocol never adds to it. Accounts also have to hold a small reserve of XRP in order to exist on the ledger, which is a deliberate cost on creating accounts and objects rather than a fee paid to anyone.
The ledger has a decentralized exchange built into the protocol and native support for issuing other assets on it, so an asset issued on the XRP Ledger can be traded against XRP without a separate contract or application. A payment can also be routed through more than one asset within a single transaction. These features are part of the ledger itself rather than software deployed on top of it, which is the main structural difference from a general-purpose smart-contract chain.
Ripple, a company, is closely associated with XRP, holds a substantial amount of it, and builds payment software that uses the ledger. The ledger itself is operated by an open set of validators and its software is public, so anyone can run a validator and choose which validators to trust. The company and the ledger are related but distinct, and a statement about what the company does is not a statement about what the protocol does.
EBCMX credits a XRP deposit after it reaches the confirmation count below on the network you send from. Sending on a network that is not listed here will not credit.
| Network | Confirmations | Minimum deposit | Minimum withdrawal (before fee) | Withdrawal fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XRP Ledger(Destination tag required) | 1 | 1 | — | — |
XRP withdrawals are not enabled yet, so no withdrawal minimum or fee is published for it. Deposits credit on the networks listed above.

Spot trading is maker-taker. The entry rates below fall as your tier improves, and your tier is whichever of your 30-day trading volume or your assets on platform gives you the better rate.

The price shown is the lowest resting sell order on our own order book, checked against a multi-venue index reference. If the book's best ask drifts more than 200 basis points from that reference, the index price is shown instead — so one off-market order can never set the published price.
Every open XRP market is listed above with its live price and 24-hour volume. Each one links straight to its order book.
Use any network in the deposit table above. Each row shows the confirmations we wait for and the minimum that credits. A deposit sent on an unlisted network will not credit.
Not exactly. The index reference is the median across major venues, but the price you trade at is our own order book, so it moves with the liquidity resting here.
The XRP price moves with supply and demand across the venues where it trades, with the liquidity resting in those order books, and with wider market conditions and news. EBCMX publishes what its own book and the index reference show, and does not forecast where the price goes next.
Spot trading is maker-taker. Your rate resolves from whichever of your 30-day trading volume or your assets on platform gives you the better tier, and the published schedule is the one settlement charges by. The entry rates for each XRP market are listed above.
Create an EBCMX account, complete identity verification, then deposit on one of the networks listed above. Once the deposit credits, place an order on a XRP market and it executes against the live order book.
Not yet. XRP withdrawals are not enabled on EBCMX at the moment, so no withdrawal fee or minimum is published for it. When they open, each network's fee and minimum appear in the table above, and both are shown to you before you confirm a withdrawal.
Market and limit orders, with time-in-force GTC, IOC, FOK or GTD, and a post-only flag on limit orders. Stop and take-profit triggers are available on XRP markets, as are OCO and OTO order groups.
Yes. Each XRP market publishes its own minimum order size along with its price and quantity precision. Those limits are enforced when the order is placed, so an order below the minimum is rejected rather than accepted.
A XRP deposit credits once it reaches the required number of network confirmations. That count differs per network and is listed in the deposit table above, so how long it takes depends on the network you send from.
Yes. An account must complete identity verification before it can trade XRP or withdraw it. Documents are reviewed by our team, not by an automated system.
